Become a Pilot! Learn to Fly!

You can learn to fly our SportCruisers under the streamlined Sport Pilot Rules or become a Certificated Private Pilot. Every day we provide training to people just like you who have the dream to fly.

Q. How long does it take?

A. To become a Certificated Sport Pilot, a minimum of 20 hours are required by the FAA and for a Private Pilot Certificate, 40 hours are the minimum

Q. What are the training costs?

A. Our aircraft rent for $120/hour. This is based on Hobbs time (only the time the engine is running) and includes fuel. Your instructor bills $50/hour and that is based on clock time.

Q Is there any upfront commitment?

A. No. It's a "pay as you go thing!" Fly as much or as little as your time and budget allow.

Q. What types of payments do you accept?

A. All major credit cards, checks, or cash.

Q Any way to try it out to see if I like it first?

A. You bet! Click for details.

Q. What are the features of the SportCruiser?

A. The SportCruiser is the best light sport aircraft (LSA) on the market. The flight characteristics are wonderful and the technology is state-of-the-art. The avionics present the pilot with a GPS moving map, traffic, weather (including NEXRAD radar), synthetic vision, terrain, and obstacles.

Q. What happens if I decide to move away from the area before I finish my training?

A. Your logbook belongs to you and the hours of training and the techniques you've learned are yours to take with you anywhere in the country that you decide to move.

Q. Are there medical requirements?

A. You can become a Sport Pilot with a driver's license as the only requirement (provided you're an American citizen). For a Private Pilot License you must pass a Third-Class Medical examination performed by an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). We have lists of AMEs that you can access.

Q. It all seems so complicated. Is there a simple source of information that can walk me through the process?

A. Sure! You'll want to purchase our "Student Handbook." It's only $25 and has our exclusive checklist that can guide you through the process. It also has our unique Safety Procedures and Practices and last, but certainly not least, a complete Training Course Outline explaining each and every lesson that you will take, in detail.

Q. What's a Pinch-Hitter Course?

If you're already a pilot, this course is an ideal gift to share the love of aviation with your flying companion.
We'll help him or her to be extra-comfortable in the right seat while you're flying and we'll also teach the kind of preparation that's needed should an emergency arise or, God forbid, you as pilot become incapacitated in flight. Your pinch-hitter will learn to fly the airplane to a landing!
This course consists of two components, a one-hour, online ground school that is hosted by the AOPA Air Safety Institute and three hours of in-the-air, practical flying instruction -- in your airplane or ours. A handbook and a laminated Emergency Pinch-Hitter Checklist are included. And, we award a certificate suitable for framing upon completion!
